Captive in the Chapel.

Due to the horrendous earthquake in Chile early Saturday morning, I deemed Ricardo unfit to go to church on Sunday. (His family is all okay, thank Heavens-- thanks to all who gave their thoughts and prayers.. By the way, I am going to try to do a post about the earthquake itself later this week.)

And I went myself. I did not want to leave the girls with him (he had to work anyway)... so I took them. By myself. Wow.

Eva was in constant nothing-is-gonna-make-me-happy mode, so I had her hooked facing outward in one arm during the entire meeting... while, with the left arm, reaching over every two seconds to pull Ellie close to me so I could hiss in her ear to whisper or else stop talking at all.

After a couple of rounds, Ellie realized what I was gonna do if she didn't listen to me-- not a darn thing. How could I, with ball-and-chain baby attached to my beating arm? (I'm totally just kidding about that... haha)

She was coloring next to one of the Bellows triplets (Scott or Glenn, not sure which). Coloring and talking loudly. She later described the experience to me, deeming him "The White Boy."

So the two of them held me captive, praying for mercy that neither of them would scream loud enough to be taken out....

And I held on 'til 10 after. Yes, I'm smiling smugly. And, I really have to give props to all the moms who, for one reason or another, come to church on their own, with all their kids in tow.

And, I have new gratitude for Ricardo and all the help he provides me in church. You know-- using his beating arm so mine won't get tired, and whatnot. :)

you need to use the "do you want me to take you outside" with her and actually get up and take her out at least one time, then, she will not think you are bluffing anymore. Ask Jackie, she'll tell you it works, all I would do is look at her ask her if she wanted me to take her to the restroom. She would straighten right up. :)

but i couldnt-- like i said, where would i put eva so i could take ellie out? she does the deadweight thing, and normally requires carrying out in 2 arms-- which ricardo takes care of. :)

I really liked your comments on cjane. Thank you for sharing your thoughts.

Likely,

Thank you. I really hate to argue online, but that particular subject gets me a little worked up. :)

Are you LDS?

I am LDS and disappointed with your comments on CJane. I'm glad you removed them.

anonymous-

I did not delete my comments because I changed my mind. They are MY OPINION. In my opinion, women should not be in a war atmosphere. There is no place for women there. In the scriptures, it was men who fought for freedom, not women.
I also, as some suggested, did not call anyone a killer. However, last time I checked, the military trains soldiers to use their guns, and I'm pretty sure it's not to shoot ants??? People maybe??? War is an ugly thing, because people are killing other people. It's a man's place. Not a woman's.

But that's beside the point. The point is, that I am SO done with that blog. The day I get called ugly names for sharing my opinion, I'm so over it.

The idea of commenting on someone's blog is to give your opinion on what the author wrote-- NOT to attack the opinions of the commenters. But I guess people have no tolerance for the personal opinions of others anymore.
By the way, sorry but this is a private blog, so if you're here to make negative comments, then so sorry, but you're not welcome. I don't publish my blog to the whole world and all their comments like cjane and others.

Woah, Nellie--what is going on here? People tracking you down to fight about fighting?
Anywho, I used to have pity parties in IA when J. used to work--I'm sure you remember. But here when 1/2 of our ward in Air Force and many who's husband's are deployed, it's simply the way it is. I feel like I (not you) was a bit of a wimp when these women somehow get all the kids to church on time ALONE for months at a time. It makes me really grateful.

And I'm so happy you saved Fishy--so insanely funny!

Oh, and I'm glad Ricardo's fam. is ok!

And how did those guys get on your blog if it's private?

EllieandEvasMommy March 8, 2010 at 11:14 AM

Elizabeth,

Yeah I know, it's a little upsetting. The only way people found it is that I left comments on cjane's blog. And I probably wouldn't care if there weren't people leaving negative stuff on my (private) blog about comments I left on another (public) blog.
I don't know what happened to being tolerant of the opinions of others... ?
Anyway... I can understand feeling osrry for yourself with 4 kids to manage and no hubby there! I feel bad sometimes with 2... but I try to get over it fast.
By the way, I have a new respect for you, having your old calling. Wow. It can be a lot. A lot of computer stuff that I don't know how to do!
And, your ABC blogs are hilarious. I SO agree with the brownie thing! It does not pay to be lazy and forego grabbing a pair of scissors in that situation! Looking forward to the last installment. :)

I'm not the anon who posted before, but just a friendly FYI - your blog is public. I believe blogger.com offers setting that you can make the blog private and only certain readers with a password or who have been accepted can view it and comment. As it stands now, anyone can follow your links to it.

Hmm... Well, thanks for letting me know! I thought I had it set to private... but...I will have to go back and change it. So, there could be people following my blog anonymously and I'd never know it I guess?? Once again, I appreciate the heads up!
