Moms know EVERYTHING.

Yesterday the girls were jumping on Ellie’s bed, unbeknownst to me—and one of them knocked down a picture and broke it. it just cracked inside the frame, the glass didn’t go all over or anything.

Anyway Ellie brought it to me, and I didn’t think anything else of it.

Until she started hollering that Eva smelled stinky, so I hollered for her and she came running and I was changing her and then I noticed blood on my leg… and then found that Eva’s foot was bleeding (not a lot, just a really shallow cut). So I asked Ellie about it, and she confessed that Eva stepped on the frame and cut herself but she didn’t want to tell me because she thought she’d get in trouble.

So after cleaning that up, I later went into their room and examined the crime scene and check for loose glass… I saw a blood spot on the wall where the picture had been hanging.

So I went to Ellie… and said Ellie… there’s blood on the wall. And there’s no way that Eva’s little foot could reach up that high. It looks to me like someone cut their finger, and then tried to hang the picture back up so they wouldn’t get in trouble… did you cut your finger???

She did. And then she said, awestruck: “how did you know???”

I told her what I tell her every time: Moms know EVERYTHING.
