Trashy Friends
This morning Ellie woke up at about the same time as me, and Ricardo of course woke up but stayed in bed trying to deny getting up.
He has started making her a sandwich when he gets home every night, and leaving it in the fridge at her level, so he doesn't have to get up and get her breakfast. (yeah, eating sandwiches for breakfast is a Chilean thing, and it's something she got from HIS side. I prefer my cold cereal.)
So she was sitting in the living room at her Dora table eating her sandwich and watching Diego while I got ready for work in the bathroom. I came out of the bathroom to tell Ricardo something, and Ellie is dragging the KITCHEN TRASHCAN up to her table! Mind you, it's a full size trashcan-- not light by any means, and it wasn't entirely empty!
When she saw the shocked look on my face, she quickly let go of it and defensively explained "Mommy, it's my friend!"
I don't get toddler logic. A thousand toys and stuffed animals to be her friend, and she drags the nasty, heavy kitchen trashcan across the house to acompany her to breakfast.
