The Mexicans are Witch Doctors.

Seriously. They are. I went to pick up my pre-ordered quesadilla from El Rancho today at lunch. I was standing at the register while a guy went to get my sour cream (come on, you can never give me mexican food and not include sour cream! I will not eat it that way.).... and a chick came to ring me up in the meantime. I was signing my receipt, thinking about mexican goodness, when she said, "When you do..."

I don't know if I was waiting for the rest of the sentence, or just thought she wasn't talking to me, but I didn't answer. When I looked up from the receipt I saw her looking at me, obviously waiting for my answer. I did some quick replaying in my head and decided what she meant: DUE, not DO. When are you due. Ahh, okay. That I can answer.

"At the end of November," I lied. I'm actually due on Dec 3rd, but Dec sounds much farther away than November, and makes people think I'm way too huge for how far along I am. Therefore, I lie. Every time. And no, I don't feel the least bit guilty. I don't have to tell them at all, if I don't want to. Hmmph.

But I digress.

"Ahh," she said. "Boy or girl?"

I opened my mouth to answer, but she was pursing her lips, one eye half closed, head cocked to one side, staring at my belly.

"Hmm. Girl."

She did not ask, she stated this. Like she already KNEW.

I was dumbfounded, but quickly recovered my cool.

"Yep, it's my second girl." I confirmed. She nodded wisely, like an old all-knowing medicine woman. She couldn't have been older than 22.

Like I said-- witch doctors.
