The Excursion.

Yesterday the 4 of us ventured out into the world. We had a lot of places to go, exchanging and returning things after Christmas. (don't worry, the only thing we exchanged/returned from any of you all was the sweatshirt from Mom and Dad that I picked up for Ricardo, and he needed a different size.)

Anyway. So we took our showers and baths and packed up the girls and their paraphernalia, and headed out.

First we hit up Aldis, because we had no food. We got 2 carts, and Ricardo pushed one with the 2 girls inside, and I pushed the food one.

Then we hit up Target, Walmart, Sonic.

While I was inside Walmart, Eva screamed for 20 minutes. When I got back, I had to climb in the back, squeeze myself in between 2 carseats and a bunch of bags of groceries, and feed her a bottle.

Just before Target, Ellie peed herself. A lot.

Then at Sonic, my RED slushie exploded all over my WHITE sweater because my cup had a hole in it. Ricardo says I made the hole in the cup. I say it came like that.

Then Ellie (who was way too tired at this point) started whining because her hamburger had tomato on it. So Ricardo rolled her window down and we let her toss it outside.

Then she noticed the lettuce.

She held it delicately between thumb and pointer finger for 20 minutes while we ate, alternating between whining and screaming that she doesn't like salad on her burgers. We refused to roll down the window to let her toss out every tiny stinking piece of lettuce on the burger. (it was cold and the burger was covered.)

While Ellie screamed about her food, Eva woke up and started screaming also. I imagine she was hungry, and hot from being in her snowsuit for so long.

And she was probably also sick of listening to Ellie scream.

The 2 played off each other-- Eva's crying made Ellie's screaming worse, and Ellie's screaming made Eva more agitated.

It was a dream come true, let me tell you. Ricardo and I actually looked at each other and LAUGHED all the way home.

What else were we gonna do?? It's either snap and end up with your mug shot on the news... or have a sense of humor about it, and remember they'll outgrow it soon.

And right about that time, we'll start over with a new, screaming-pooping-puking model. Are we insane???

No, just parents.
