My American

Friday was a very proud day for Ricardo and all who love him.

After almost 4 years and thousands of dollars paid, he finally became an American citizen! The ceremony was beautiful and obviously very patriotic.

This was an important step for him, because along with all the obvious rights he now can enjoy, he can now petition for his family to come here and get visas, and eventually become citizens themselves.

We honored the importance of the event by dressing in our Sunday best, Ricardo in his new suit and a silk blue tie that I bought him, with all the actual signatures from the Declaration of Independence. The girls donned matching red, white, and blue dresses. I got chills when the judge said, "You are now American citizens." I cried. I think Ricardo may have cried, but he'd never admit it.

I can't think of anyone who deserves this more. America has gained a hard worker and an ambitious person. He will have success in life, as he already has in his family.

I am now the proud wife of an American, one who truly personifies the American Dream.
