Eva the Dream Weeva.

It has been quite the learning experience adjusting to having 2 children. Not just for me, for all of us.

Ellie's been hit pretty hard with the change, I'd say. She's had to learn to share her room, her old baby things, and her Mommy.

I'm sure latter has been the biggest shock for her.

Though the room sharing has its moments. Last night was one of them.

I put Ellie to bed around 8:00, and as soon as Eva seemed a little grouchy, I went to put her in her crib. She was still awake but I figured she'd fall asleep soon.
15 minutes later it all hit the fan. Eva was screaming and I went in to assess the situation.

She was red faced and kicking and wasn't ready to sleep. I grabbed her out of the crib and when I turned to carry her out of the room, I noticed Ellie sobbing quietly in her bed.
It caught me off guard and I laughed at the maturity of her silent suffering before sitting down on the edge of her bed to ask her what was the matter??

Her answer came in the form of a wavy, watery wail.

"EvA's ScReAmInG, aNd I tRyInG to sLeEeEeEeEp!" she sobbed.

I chuckled and wrapped my free arm around her in a hug. Normally she could care less if Eva screams when she's sleeping. She sleeps deeper than an underground cavern.

I think the situation went as follows: Ellie is peacefully drifting off into dreamland, and she's in that numb, fuzzy place right on the border of sleep. Her dreams are just matter begining to collect, not yet formed into solid images in her head... Enter Eva stage right, who lets out an ear-piercing tribal shriek.  Ellie jumps and is jolted out of her sleepy place like a toy train derailed by a grabby toddler.

I'd probably sob too.

I dried her tears, gave her some kisses and promised to bring Eva back in once I was sure she was going to be quiet.

"NoOoOo, MomMy, take her AwAaAaAaaaay! I don't want her to sleep in my room EvEr AgAaAaAiN!" was the dramatic response.

Her room got quiet shortly after that. Once Eva was gone and she knew she could rest scream-free, I'm sure sleep slipped in quickly like a ninja, before she really knew what hit her.

There's nothing like a good cry to help you fall into dreamland.

The Eva-nator was back in her crib within the hour. This time though, she was also visiting dreamland. Maybe the sisters were even there together.

I sure hope they were getting along.

****Post-Post:

Incidentally, last night  my dream came true, as it was the first time that Eva slept through the night.

All. Night.

It was the first time I slept all night in over 9 months! I woke up around 6:20, confused and disoriented. Where was my baby? Why did I have to pee so badly? Had I really not seen her once during the night??

Was she alive???

Indeed she was, and she slept peacefully until around 6:45, and woke up in a fabulous mood.

Maybe stirring things up and agitating her sister before bed helps her catch some better Z's.
