Final thoughts before bed...

How do you love two kids?

How do you show the same amount of love, when one is small, round and happy all the time, and the other is entering into an independent phase, fueled by defiance and an accute hatred for the new baby??

And how on earth do I make it even, when I'm cooing lovingly at the baby while scolding Ellie for the 15th time for a defiant, repeated infraction?

It's sometimes very difficult to understand how very much the new baby has rocked Ellie's world.
She was IT. The ONE.

And then happy, gurgling Eva came, with her spit up and soiled diapers, and stole half (or more, at first) of Mommy's attention. Ellie's gag reflex and her first child 'tude have been triggered. Poor, easygoing Eva is dragged along (sometimes literally, by the feet) the path of sisterhood, with all its drama and emotional ups and downs, and the thing is, she could care less-- she adores Ellie!

No matter what ellie does to her, or how many times she is dragged, kocked down, or squeezed just a little too hard (grits teeth), Ellie remains Eva's best friend.

^ The above was written on my blackberry last night at like, 11pm.... those were my final thoughts before sleep slapped me across the face and snatched the blackberry out of my hands.

Or, as Ellie likes to call it, my pinkberry.

My sweet baby has turned 17 today and I can not for the life of me, figure out how time has passed so darn quick!

Ellie will love Eva to the point of hurting her sometimes :) It's the natural order order of things.

All siblings have to determine dominance among the ranks! (ask Jackie about her dogs, they do the same)

Give Eva a few years, you never know, she may end up the dominant one.
